In what appears as new antics from the northern politicians, the National Chairman of the All progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu has announced Ahmad Lawan as the consensus presidential candidate of the party.

Against the position of most Northern Governors on power shift to the South, he announced Mr Lawan, the current senate president as APC consensus presidential candidate at a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday, in Abuja.

Vanguard reports that some members of the NWC kicked against the move and insisted that other Presidential aspirants which include Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Engr. David Umahi must be allowed to contest the primary election slated for Tuesday in the party’s convention to hold at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

The national chairman told the NWC that he arrived at the choice of Lawan after consultation with President Buhari.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in a closed-door meeting with the northern governors.

The governors in attendance are the Chairman of Progressive Governors Forum and governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu, chairman of Northern governors Forum and governor of Plateau State, Simeon Lalong, Abubakar Baduru (Jigawa), and Babagana Zulum (Borno).
