Buhari’s son, Yusuf marries Zahra Bayero, pays N500k dowry

KANO – Yusuf, son of President Muhammadu Buhari has wedded his heartthrob, Zahra Bayero, daughter of the Emir of Bichi.

The new couple got married as scheduled in a wedding event that took place in Kano on Friday afternoon with eminent Nigerians and dignitaries in attendance, including the vice-president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

Also present were members of Buhari’s delegation including Bashir Magashi, minister of defense; Sabo Nanono, minister of agriculture and rural transformation; Hadi Sirika, minister for aviation; and Suleiman Hussein Adamu, minister for water resources among others.

Others include former president Goodluck Jonathan, former vice-president Atiku Abubakar.

The marriage ceremony took place at the palace of the Emir of Bichi.

A sum of N500,000 was paid as dowry according to BBC Hausa service.

Garba Shehu, Buhari’s senior special assistant on media and publicity, also said members of the delegation would stay back after the wedding event to represent the president at the coronation of the emir at Bichi the next day.

The new couple was said to have started their relationship in the United Kingdom where Yusuf finished his undergraduate studies.

His wife, Zahra is a graduate of architecture from Brighton University in the UK.
