Ahead of the 2023 general elections, major political parties have announced the sale of their nomination and expression of interest forms for various positions.

In this article, the focus is on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

All Progressives Congress (APC)

The APC is the party with the highest cost of nomination and expression of interest forms. The party at its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Wednesday in Abuja announced the cost of its nomination forms as follows:

Presidential – N100 million ($250,000)

Governorship – N50 million ($125,000)

Senate – N20 million ($50,000)

House of Representatives – N10 million ($25,000)

House of Assembly – N2 million ($5000)

Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP)

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had on March 17 announced the prices for its nomination and expression of interest forms for various positions.

Presidential – N40 million ($100,000)

Governorship – N21 million ($52,500)

Senate – N3.5 million ($8,750)

House of Representatives – N2.5 million ($6,250)

House of Assembly – N0.6 million ($1,500)

Social Democratic Party (SDP)

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has also begun the sale of its nomination and expression of interest forms for various positions.

Presidential – N35 million ($87,500)

Governorship – N16 million ($40,000)

Senate – N3 million ($7,500)

House of Representatives – N1.7 million ($4,250)

House of Assembly – N0.5 million ($1,250)

Youth inclusion

APC and PDP had announced a 50 per cent cut for aspirants who are under the age of 40 years which they described as a way of encouraging youth participation to run for political offices.
