JUST IN: Kidnapped Construction Workers in Ondo Regains Freedom

ONDO – The abducted construction workers on the Ikaram Akunu Akoko area of the state have regained their freedom from captivity on Saturday night after spending 4days in the den of kidnappers.

The source didn’t say whether they were rescued without payment of ransom or mentioned an amount paid.

According to he simply disclosed that the men regained their freedom hale and hearty and were taken to an undisclosed hospital for better medical treatment. The people of the were very happy about the good news as they didn’t want anything that will delay the road project according to an Akunu Akoko community leader chief Ladi Bello and Alhaji Yaya Thanni from Ikaram Akoko.,

The duo commended state and local governments for their concern over the unfortunate incident. They praised police and other security agents including the hunters and vigilante groups for the roles they played to secure the release of the men. Efforts of this correspondent to chat with the released men on their ordeals while in captivity were not successful.

The Akala of Ikaram Akoko and the chairman Akoko northwest local government traditional council oba Andrew momodu had been holding series of meetings and consultations with stakeholders as a way to curb kidnapping in the area. The monarch revealed there was an urgent need for mass recruitment of our youths to the police, civil defense and Amotekun because the present manpower is grossly inadequate to face the high rate of security challenges in the country.
