Lack of order paper forces house of reps to adjourn plenary

Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives was forced to adjourn plenary on Thursday over lack of order paper.

The speaker who got to chamber of the house at past 11 in the morning only to meet few members.

He decried the absence of the clerk, members and lack of order paper for the legislative business of the day.

He said: “This house sit at 11am and everybody knows that. We adjourned yesterday till 11am today.”

“It’s 11.20am, the clerk is not here and the order paper is not ready. And if order paper is not ready, we can’t function as a house.”.

The furious speaker asked – what kind of thing is that?

“That we are now forced to adjourn plenary. Please, everybody should see me in the office. The sitting us hereby adjourned.”, Mr Gbajabiamila said.
